Developed
in 2004 as eastern Canada’s first professionally built mountain bike free-ride
park, the Albemarle Tract as its known locally has become a destination
for thrill seekers, families and adults looking for the ultimate biking
experience.
The concept of free-riding historically conjures images of riders descending frightfully narrow log bridges and doing 10- foot wheelie drops in the rainforests of British Columbia. Free-riding, as defined by riders themselves “…is about hanging
with your friends and doing stuff on a bike that pushes the limits of both yourself and your bike.” The Bruce Peninsula Free-Ride Park provides a venue for riders of all abilities to refine their skills and challenge themselves in a safe, professionally designed environment. Riders will be challenged with narrow elevated boardwalks, teeter totters, rock drop offs, and a suspension bridge. |
Stunts
vary in degree of difficulty creating a progressive environment from entry
level to expert. Parking lot ‘warm-up’ stunts are conveniently placed to
get the adrenaline pumping and prepare riders for the rest of the park.
Upon full completion in 2005, there will be over 40 stunts and 20 kilometres of combined single-track trails. Two loops form the backbone for the stunts, which weave in and out of the main trails, making it perfect for the adventurous family. The park is professionally designed and built using concepts from other free-ride facilities in the world and using sustainable trail design philosophy from the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA). The park is located 10 km north of Wiarton on Bruce Road 9, just past the intersection of Bruce Road 9 and 18. Visit www.naturalretreat.com or call 1-800-268- 3838 for more information. |
